Here’s how to set hootsuite so that it posts all your blog posts to your social networks automatically – big time saver…
Log in to hootsuite, then move the mouse to the left of the screen where a menu will appear. Move the mouse over ‘settings’ then click on RSS/Atom. (Don’t worry about why it’s called this – you’ll probably never need to know…)
Then click on the little ‘plus sign’ + button at the top to create a new rule.
Then enter in the details of your website and social networks.
1) If your website is called ‘http://myblog.com/’ then you need to enter ‘http://myblog.com/feed’ as your Feed URL.
2) Then if you move your mouse over the ‘Network to send feed items to’ section you’ll be able to click on the Network(s) you want the blog items to be posted to (ie Facebook/Linked in…)
3) Unless you’re posting relentlessly, probably checking for new messages every 6 hours is good enough with one message going out at a time. You can also set a little text like ‘New Article:’ (no space required at the end) to go out in front of the facebook posts.
Then click on ‘Save Feed’ and you’re done! Hope that’s useful.
